Updating your wireless network card drivers

All the errors you see in Part 1 are related to the wireless network adapter driver.

When you install a wireless USB network adapter, a wireless Card Bus or CF network adapter, or a wireless internal network adapter on your desktop or laptop, the computer cannot communicate with these hardware devices on its own.

Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer. If you have a Surface Pro 3, Surface 3, Surface Pro 4, or Surface Book, we recommend that you download and install the appropriate file for your Surface from the Microsoft Download Center.Bear in mind that we do not recommend you install this release on OSes other than the specified ones even though other platforms might also be suitable. Also, when the update has finished, do perform a restart to ensure that all changes take effect properly.A wireless network driver is needed to make the computer well communicate with the wireless network adapters and work properly.

If the wireless network adapter driver is missing, outdate, corrupted, broken, or incorrect, you will get problems in Part 1.(If you can’t connect your Surface to the Internet, see the next section.) To download the update using a wired connection: In the table below, select the download link for your device. Then, select Download and choose the appropriate file. However, in order to use all available features of this hardware, you must install the appropriate drivers.Enabling the wireless card allows systems to read chipset information and manufacturer name, as well as connect to a network without using an Ethernet cable. You may get more wireless network adapter driver problems on your desktop, laptop or notebook.
